International Faxing Hubs
Reduce Costs of Transcontinental faxing!
PRESS RELEASE Wheaton, IL -- September 1996 -- Copia's International
Fax Callback dramatically reduces phone costs for companies
that regularly fax documents between their foreign offices and the
US. Operating between "hubs," one overseas and one domestic,
International Fax Callback uses the Internet or
existing communication links to transmit faxes. It's the latest
"Fax Solution" from Copia International, developed to
lower telephone costs for service bureaus and large international
companies with frequent overseas fax transmissions.
It's just like sending a regular fax. Overseas users dial a local
access number and provide touch-tone responses to voice prompts
to start the fax process. For an additional price, a special "black
box" attached to the fax phone line can respond to the voice
prompts. The user then only dials a fax number, just like any other
fax. Fax Callback creates two packets for transmission; the fax
and delivery instructions in one, and confirmation of delivery in
the second. The packets are transmitted via a high speed data link
(corporate users) or the Internet (service bureaus). The Internet
method uses least-cost routing to identify the receiving
hub that is closest to the delivery address. The fax is unpacked
and faxed to its final destination. The fax transmitted via high
speed data link is delivered to the corporation's domestic hub where
the fax is routed to an individual. For each transaction Fax Callback
software constructs a confirmation response to the originating hub
(and the sender, if requested). International Fax Callback is marketed to service
bureaus and large international corporations that lease their own
data link. It's a neat way to circumvent costly and sometimes inefficient
foreign phone monopolies. The software itself is a great example
of Copia's expertise in fax solutions. This particular application
utilizes Copia's combo-port, or one-call, patented technology (Patent
#5,196,943), allowing voice and fax transmissions on the same phone
line. For more information on this and other fax solutions, call Copia's
