Fax Meets Web
Fax straight from your web site!
PRESS RELEASE
Wheaton, IL -- November 18, 1996 -- Documents on your web
site can now be downloaded to fax machines. Copia International's new
FFWEB application retrieves web documents and translates them
to a faxable format. In conjunction with the FaxFacts Fax-on-Demand system,
FFWEB makes web pages available to your customers who have a
fax machine (lots), but no Internet access (more than you think). Internally,
documents become more versatile and portable in the process.
FFWEB is a unique solution to integrating faxing with the
Internet. A powerful search engine retrieves web pages from your own web site
or even from other Internet hosts and quickly converts them to a faxable
format. FFWEB automatically builds the database of document
locations that will be cross-referenced to document numbers keyed at the
telephone keypad by callers.
If FaxFacts Fax-on-Demand is running on the same network as
a web server, FFWEB retrieves the HTML document from
the local fileserver. Otherwise it uses the URL to retrieve the document from
the world wide web. Frequently requested web documents can be
"pre-converted" so they are available to callers more quickly.
FFWEB is surprisingly simple to use for the complexity of the
program. When a caller chooses a document number, FFWEB cross
references it to a URL site, converts the document to fax format, and delivers
it to the keyed fax number. Documents are automatically paginated and colors
are replaced with grays and black. If you publish a list of document numbers as
a menu choice on your Fax-on-Demand system, callers can easily locate the
documents they need.
With FFWEB you can also offer visitors to your web site the option of
faxing web documents to a specific fax number. You just add name and fax number
fields (and buttons) to the web page. Employees can use and access documents on
the web site, too and with FFWEB they can download these web documents
for their own use or to a client's fax machine.
Copia International is well-known for the FaxFacts family of enhanced
fax solutions for business. FaxFacts' Fax-on-Demand product
was the first fax-on-demand system developed and marketed in the US. FaxFacts
Server introduced LAN-based faxing, with add-on modules of Mail Merge to Fax,
Graphical Cover Sheet, Direct Inward Dial (DID), and Fax Mail.
