Specify E-Mail Envelope Sender
$email_esender address_part [address_part ...]
This command specifies the default "envelope sender" for e-mail that is to be sent from the system itself rather than from any specific client or user. For example:
| • | E-mail sent from Job Administration to notify job results |
| • | E-mail sent from a fax-to-email application with received faxes as attachments |
| • | Any e-mail sent which omits an $email_esender command in the FS file |
The syntax for this command is the same as the $email_esender FS file command.
The 'envelope sender' is the address used, after logging in to a remote MTA, on the "MAIL FROM:" SMTP command. As such, it does not normally appear in the e-mail body presented to the recipient by a mail client. However if no CopiaFacts $email_from command is present then an $email_esender command will also supply the "from" address which the recipient will see.
If you are operating a service bureau sending e-mails for a number of clients, it is recommended that you do not use this command and instead use $email_esender commands in the FS files. Otherwise your whole domain may be blacklisted if a recipient reports that one of your clients is sending unsolicited commercial e-mail.
