Expansion of Variables

Previous pageReturn to chapter overviewNext page

One of the most powerful features of the CopiaFacts syntax is the ability to expand "variables", or "macros", to change the effects of commands and templates at run-time. Variables have alphanumeric names of maximum length 32 characters which are not case-sensitive. Spaces are not allowed in variable names. The maximum length of the value of a variable is approximately 8000 characters.

Essential features of the uses of variables are described in the following sections

       Difference between $var_def and $set_var

       Assigning and using variables

       Recursive variable definition

       Precedence of variable expansion
