Hardware and License Control Program

FFHWL [directory]

The FFHWL program is provided to allow the CopiaFacts system administrator to add additional lines and license options to the installation. This program is also used to set up line capabilities and options.

The CopiaFacts Hardware and License control system works by separating the CopiaFacts license control from the main executable programs, and provides the following benefits:

To add capacity to your system in the form of additional lines or licensed features, it is not necessary to upgrade to a new release of the CopiaFacts software. You can continue to use the same versions of the programs that you are already comfortable with, and simply add support for the extra lines or features. It is not even necessary to download any files: after purchasing additional capacity you can request a new license key to be delivered by fax, telephone or e-mail.
Provided that your CopiaFacts maintenance cover is current, you will be able to use a new software release as soon as it is available for download.
When you renew your CopiaFacts maintenance and support option, simply entering a new key in the FFHWL program will allow you to use any new CopiaFacts software made available in the following maintenance period. Note that CopiaFacts maintenance is still optional, and not renewing your maintenance option does not prevent you from continuing to use your current CopiaFacts software.

Your site's CopiaFacts serial number and hardware and license details are held in a secure file named FAXCOUNT.HWL. This file will be invalidated by an attempt to modify it other than by the use of the FFHWL program, so you should make sure that you keep a backup in case of accidental damage to or loss of this file.
