FFMERGE Setup Utility
FFMRGNT
FFMRGNT should be run before each FFMERGE operation to configure the settings for the merge. The settings are stored in the local Windows registry where they can be accessed by the FFMERGE print driver. Windows administrator privilege is required to save settings from this utility.

The fields on the FFMRGNT dialog are used as follows:
| Request Directory | The server directory containing the TOSEND queues. Normally this will remain set to the default value. The UNC button converts the name to UNC format which may be needed for special circumstances. If 'staged local copy' (see below) is enabled, this value is ignored. |
| User Profile to Locate Images | The user profile from which the $image_locn commands will be used to locate image attachments specified using AT= on the FFMERGE action line. This need not be the same as the user profile used to transmit the FFMERGE output. |
| Valid Phone Digits | A string containing the digits to be passed through as part of the phone number from the action line. This value is ignored if the phone number in the action line contains '@', in which case it is taken as an e-mail address. |
| Reduce Priority | Specifies the TOSEND folder to be used |
| Fax Format | Specifies the fax format. |
| Multi-Page | Checked to create a multi-page TIF with extension .TIF (recommended); unchecked to create .1 .2 .3 files. |
| Brooktrout | Checked to produce files with reversed bit-sequence. Leave this field unchecked for all boards. |
| Mono | Checked to disable dithering. Leave this field unchecked if your document contains gray-scale areas. Select the dithering method using the printer Properties dialog. |
| Fine | Selects fine fax mode |
| Spooler | Check if, and only if, printing to FFMERGE from a 16-bit application |
| Staged Local Dir | Check to enable the 'staged local directory' feature and specify a local pathname. This feature must be used to allow the print driver to reach a folder on a network drive. The FFMRGMV utility will be started to move files to a location inaccessible to the print driver after each document is rendered. |
| PDF | Check to enable conversion of TIF to PDF when FFMERGE is used to produce personalized e-mail documents. |
| Constant Values | Enter the FS file commands to be used in FS files created from the FFMERGE operation. A $fax_user command is required in this box. For e-mail, you should add $email_esender or $email_from, and usually $email_subject. $var_def commands are also often used. |
The staged local copy feature is used to work around the problem that a Novell server cannot be written to from a Windows device driver such as FFMERGE. It is enabled at installation time (or subsequently) using the SETUP program. FFMERGE writes to the local staging directory and a utility (launched when you close FFMRGNT) moves files from this local staging area to the CopiaFacts queues on the Novell server. This utility (FFMRGMV) also obtains FS numbers (from NEXTFS). After running FFMRGNT you will find an icon for FFMRGMV on your taskbar. Take care not to close this program until after your FFMERGE operation is completed.
