Star Office and Open Office 2.x
If you have a Windows copy of Sun StarOffice, you may prefer to use it for conversion of Word, Excel and Powerpoint files. StarOffice improves your security because it does not execute any macros that may be embedded in the document. Conversion using StarOffice has only been tested with StarOffice 7 and Star Office 8, and has not been fully tested with OpenOffice 2.x releases. It is generally more straightforward to use than the Microsoft Office equivalent, but there may be some very complex documents which it cannot handle.
The location of Star Office 7 or 8 will be determined automatically from the registry. To override the path to SOFFICE.EXE, assign the full pathname to environment variable STAROFFICEPATH.
To use StarOffice for Word, Excel and Powerpoint files, add the keywords SODOC, SOXLS and/or SOPPT respectively to the $convert_options command in the user profile referenced from the FS file. If there is a $convert_options command in this user profile, you can also override it with a $convert_options command in the FS file itself. You can also use these options on the CVTOPTS environment variable, or use command-line option -S on CVSINGLE when run standalone.
If both the keywords SODOC and HTMLWord are given, local HTML documents will be rendered by Star Office.
Open Office 3.0
Open Office 3.0 can be used for converting Word, Excel and PowerPoint files, including the supported Office 2007 formats. It is generally more straightforward to use than the Microsoft Office equivalent, but there may be some very complex documents which it cannot handle.
The location of Open Office 3 will be determined automatically from the registry. To override the path to SOFFICE.EXE, assign the full pathname to environment variable OPENOFFICE3PATH.
To use Open Office 3 for Word, Excel and Powerpoint files, add the keywords OODOCX, OOXLSX and/or OOPPTX respectively to the $convert_options command in the user profile referenced from the FS file. If there is a $convert_options command in this user profile, you can also override it with a $convert_options command in the FS file itself. You can also use these options on the CVTOPTS environment variable, or use command-line option -X on CVSINGLE when run standalone.
Note that the keyword OODOCX specifies that Open Office should be used for both DOC and DOCX files, and similarly for the other keywords.
