If there is no custom template loaded from a DLL, a sender template is loaded from the sender domain folder using sendername.FST as the filename. If this is not present, the DEFAULT.FST is loaded from the sender domain folder, then if that is missing DEFAULT.FST from the sender domains folder. If none of these is found and the validation type is 'Template' then a missing sender template is recorded.
With a sender template, or the template contents loaded from a DLL, the sender template is loaded. The variables SMTP_PASSWORD, SMTP_OPTIONS and SMTP_NOTIFY_OPTIONS are extracted and individual options flags are set from the options variables.
Validation and error/warning detection is then performed against the option settings:
•if there is an error loading the template, error (14)
•if option 17 (TLS required) is set and TLS has not been used, error (7)
•if option 19 (No DKIM is error) is set and DKIM has not been used, error (24)
•if option 18 (DKIM verification failure is error) is set and DKIM has not been used, error (25)
•if option 20 (S/MIME signature verification failed is error) is set and SMIME_RESULT is -36, -38 or -42, error (6)
•if option 21 (Missing S/MIME signature is error) is set the message was not signed, error (5)
•if option 22 (Missing S/MIME encryption is error) is set the message was not encrypted, error (26)
•if the first envelope recipient e-mail address starts with 'secure' and the message was not signed, warning (1)
•if the first envelope recipient e-mail address starts with 'secure' and the message was not encrypted, warning (2)
•if the value of the SMTP_PASSWORD variable is not a substring of the message subject header value, error (8). This variable is always removed from the template.
The recipient list feature is currently not enabled and the sender template options for it have been removed from the options dialog.
If there is a $worker_box or $fax_tosend command in the sender template, they are saved and removed. The $worker box command will cause a worker box FS file to be written for this transaction, even if one is not present in the recipient template.
The recording of any errors in this phase prevents further processing of the message.
