You can interact with some CopiaFacts desktop applications by writing a program to send Windows messages. Do not send messages other than those listed below.
Earlier versions of this interface used message numbers based on WM_USER. These are still supported, but might be removed in a future version: you should use WM_APP if possible.
The following are the principal interfaces:
Writing FFTRACE messages
Send a WM_COPYDATA message to the FFTRACE window named TTraceform. The data should consist of a program name identifier, followed by a single space, followed by the message to be displayed. The dwData parameter must be 1 if the message is Unicode, or 2 if it is UTF-8, or 0 if it is ASCII. The cbData parameter is the number of bytes in the message, including its trailing zero char or widechar.
Suspending and resuming the COPIAFACTS engine
Send WM_APP + 12 to suspend, and WM_APP + 11 to resume, to the COPIAFACTS window named TCF9Sform. The lParam and wParam fields are not used.
Controlling FFEXTERN
Send the following messages to the FFEXTERN window named TXTERN.
| WM_APP + 3 | Set blackout time: the lParam value is the start time in seconds since midnight, and the wParam value is the blackout interval in minutes. |
| WM_APP + 4 | Toggle the active state of FFEXTERN |
| WM_APP + 5 | Set FFEXTERN to be active. The message is ignored if the state is already active. |
| WM_APP + 6 | Set FFEXTERN to be inactive. The message is ignored if the state is already inactive. |
| WM_APP + 7 | Shut down FFEXTERN. |
| WM_APP + 8 | Return 0 if FFEXTERN is inactive, 1 if it is active, 2 if it is currently processing an operation. |
