Specify Fax Modem Parameters
$faxmodem chan keyword [keyword ...]
This command is used to specify override parameters for a fax modem attached to a COM port. You can put all applicable parameters on one command, or divide them over multiple commands.
The parameters on this command are used as follows:
| chan | the channel number or channel group(s) affected, or * for all channels. If the channel is not configured for fax modem, the command is ignored. Note that the number refers to the CopiaFacts channel, not the COM port number assigned to the channel in the CopiaFacts configurator. |
| keyword | One or more of the following keywords or values (but only one 'class' keyword): |
| Class1.0 | indicates that the fax modem is to be treated as Class 1.0. |
| Class1 | indicates that the fax modem is to be treated as Class 1. |
| Class2 | indicates that the fax modem is to be treated as Class 2. |
| Class2.0 | indicates that the fax modem is to be treated as Class 2.0. |
| Class2.1 | indicates that the fax modem is to be treated as Class 2.1. |
| modemrate | a numeric value indicates the baud rate to be used for communicating with the modem (default 115200). Note that this is not connected with the baud rate used to send and receive faxes. |
| XON | indicates that XON/XOFF flow control will be used to communicate with the modem. |
| DTR | indicates that DTR flow control will be used to communicate with the modem. |
| CTS | indicates that CTS flow control will be used to communicate with the modem. |
| AT... | a string value starting with AT will be used as the init sequence for the modem. |
To see what fax classes your modem supports, you can use the SHOWCOMPORT utility.
To see what fax class CopiaFacts will select for your modem, omit the class keyword and start COPIAFACTS with the Debug Configuration and Startup option checked, then look in the trace to see what fax class has been detected. Using a Class keyword on this command avoids the need to detect the class each time COPIAFACTS is started, and is therefore essential if you are using a board with multiple COM ports.
If the fax class is not given and the fax class has to be detected, CopiaFacts will use the last class name of the sequence shown above that the modem reports as supported. Class 1 is preferred to Class 1.0 when both are supported because the former is more likely to be 'standard'.
This interface includes software developed by Alt-N Technologies (http://www.altn.com).
Hardware Issues: Fax Modem only
Defaults: Detect fax class at startup; modem rate 115200; no flow control; init string: "AT&F&C1&D2&K3S7=55S0=0"
Example:
$faxmodem modems Class2.0
Specific Settings:
We have found that quite a number of different modems work with the default settings. Some that do not are listed below. Note that these settings assume you have a channel group defined earlier in FAXFACTS.CFG which defines the MODEMS channel group. If you have more than one modem type, you will need either multiple channel groups or to specify the channels by channel number (not by COM port number).
