CopiaFacts™ Reference Manual

File Locations / Lifetimes

FSThis file extension originally stood for 'fax send' but is now used for the transaction data relating to all outbound types. The files contain routing information, processing options, and details (but not content) of the documents or media being transmitted.
FS files are all held in  FAXFACTS\CALLBACK sub-folders. The TOSENDx folders contain FS files awaiting processing and remain in these folders until processing is complete. Different TOSENDx folders have different priorities. When a transaction requires external preprocessing (other than in the main COPIAFACTS engine) it may be temporarily moved to the PREPROC or POSTPROC folders scanned by FFEXTERN.
After processing, including all configured retry attempts, the FS file is normally moved to the SENT or FAIL folder. Files are later deleted or archived from these folders usually only by CopiaFacts housekeeping, but options are available to suppress saving the file to SENT or FAIL at all and deleting it instead.
The CALLBACK\ACTIVE folder contains FS files which are markers only, without transaction content.
MCFThis mail control file is used for transaction data relating to received faxes.  The files contain routing information, processing options, and details (but not content) of the received fax document.
MIFThis control file contains 'envelope' data for received e-mail messages. It has details of the sender and recipient, and security options used for the received message.
