CopiaFacts™ Reference Manual

CopiaFacts provides two methods of recording the results of a send or receive operation:

•The DBF log file is a fixed format file with limited capability to include custom information: a few optional fields can be added for specific data variables.

•The Data extraction feature allows a single text line to be appended to a log file for each inbound or outbound call, with the format entirely customizable for each type of transaction, containing any available data.

Neither of the above features is well matched with the provision of an immediate notification of results to an external operation. For this purpose, CopiaFacts provides a notification mechanism to send a message notifying the results. Currently this is implemented using MSMQ messages.

These notification messages can optionally be sent in three circumstances:

•After each outbound transmission attempt (fax, voice, e-mail, SMS).

•After each completed outbound operation, either on successful transmission or on failure after all scheduled retries have been completed.

•After each inbound operation (fax or voice). Inbound e-mail to the CopiaFacts SMTP Gateway is not included in these notifications.

The content of the MSMQ label and message body can be configured separately for each type of transaction, and can include any variable content available at the end of the transaction, such as the destination answerback for an outbound fax, or the filename of a saved inbound fax file.
