Important note: if you are using a build version which you cannot find listed anywhere in this appendix, you should upgrade.  The absence of a small number of build numbers from this appendix means that the build was quickly withdrawn and superseded, or that it was an internal test build only.  Its change list will have been incorporated into that of the next build.

See the Release Notes for the major changes in CopiaFacts 9.1, which are not shown in detail below. Fixes and later changes in version 9 are shown below, starting with the most recent. This list also includes some fixes which may have been first detected in version 8.3.
A summary of changes for each CopiaFacts component appears in Version History by Component.
Changes which may require action or modifications to procedures or commands at some sites are highlighted.

Version 9.1.0.379 2025.10.01

Documentation Now includes an later version of CFHelpView.exe, which provides EWriter context-sensitive help (on F1) for CopiaFacts applications. This now uses Edge/WebView2 (when available) to display the help.
CFHWL, DocumentationImproved the descriptions of the HDID and (legacy) SDID features to clarify the differences in the handling of the dialed number in inbound calls. This is also reflected in the help hints for these items in CFHWL.
CF9IMAGEAdded support for the latest PDFIUM release.
CF9IMAGEUpdated to support Libre Office 25:8.
CF9IMAGEImproved the accuracy of positioning PDF Annotations onto a PDF 'watermark' base document. This is still affected by rounding errors and depends on monitor resolution and location on the page, so requires testing and possible position adjustment in FFVIEWER.
CF9IMAGEAdded the ability to set CHECK_BLANK_TIF to check only short documents.
FFVIEWERFixed an issue where some 'save wizard' options were presented for use with PDF annotations, but were only applicable when saving TIF annotations.
COPIAFACTSAdded an abridged version of CF9.SMR which omits the failure outcome codes for boards and features which are no longer supported. This makes maintenance of retry parameters simpler. This file can be referenced from $retry_parms. Open CF9_ABRIDGED.SMR in Notepad for usage instructions.
COPIAEDITImproved the help hints' content and formatting on the differences dialog.

Version 9.1.0.378 2025.09.08

CFTEST / FFTESTTSUpdated the TTS Implementation Checklist topic to match Microsoft's current download locations for TTS features and voices.
EMSETUPModified the Trigger warning for CopiaFacts Limited Period License expiry so that the warning notification can be set (by means of a CFG-file variable LPL_WARN_DAYS) to be sent earlier before the license expiry than the default two days.
DocumentationFor help topics which contain multiple sub-sections, the use of the Scroll icon (on the top grey bar, when needed) has been extended in more topics to show sub-sections not visible on the first topic page.
CF9IMAGEFixed a regression which caused a failure to process correctly some of the Image Option Keywords with a numeric suffix, for example DITHERn or SHARPENn.

Version 9.1.0.375 2025.07.22

CF9IMAGEFixed a regression in the creation of thumbnail KEEP_FAX images containing the pages of a multi-page transmission. Each thumbnail (if more than one) was being rendered inverted left-right and top-bottom.
COPIAFACTSFixed a timing issue which could very occasionally cause an exception to be reported while shutting down the program.

Version 9.1.0.374 2025.06.09

COPIAEDITImproved the saving of FS files into a TOSEND folder to avoid a potential warning if a COPIAFACTS node attempts to open the file while it it being written.
TE-SYSTEMS XCAPIFrom June 2025 Copia have provided an installer for a pre-release XCSDK.DLL from TE-Systems. This fixes some timing issues which previously required CopiaFacts to concatenate multiple separate documents when specified on $fax_cover and $fax_filename commands, before transmission as a single TIF file.  From August 2025 builds, this installer places the DLL in the same folder as Copia excutable files.
GWMANAGERAdded a check that no From address which is configured for notifications includes a Gateway Recipient Domain name. If a notification 'bounces' it can be sent back to the Gateway, causing an indefinite notification loop if this incoming e-mail is also rejected with an error nodification sent.
EMSETUPImproved the hints to warn against using your gateway domain name in the from and envelope notification addresses.
CopiaServerInstall...Fixed an issue where a warning that CFESERVICE and CFXSERVICE were running might appear when only CFMSG was running and they were not.

Version 9.1.0.372 2025.05.10

CFGATEWAYFixed an issue which caused attachments (and a default cover sheet if specified in GWMANAGER) with file extensions .ASC, .CVR, or .TXT to be placed on a $fax_cover command instead of the first $fax_filename command in the generated FS file. Only the latter can be used to send ASCII cover sheets within an ASCII_TEMPLATE specification. Note also that VALID_ASCII_EXTS does not override these three extensions in the Gateway. Please check and verify the linked documentation if you have currently used a workaround to avoid this issue.

Version 9.1.0.371 2025.04.24

COPIAFACTSFixed a SIP INVITE formatting problem if a custom header in the VOIP_SET_CUSTOM_PARMS variable contained the semicolon character, which is used as the default delimiter to delimit multiple headers if defined in this variable. The delimiter you will use can now be selected using a new configuration-file variable VOIP_PARM_DELIMITER.
COPIAFACTSA space is no longer added (incorrectly) after each colon character used in a value of the VOIP_SET_CUSTOM_PARMS variable. The colon+space" should only follow each field-name.
TRCVIEWSome programs which write trace files now replace newlines embedded in a trace line with a ¶ character, to avoid a newline breaking up the view of the trace. The horizontal scroll limit in TRCVIEW has been increased to accommodate longer trace lines.

Version 9.1.0.370 2025.04.20

COPIAFACTSFixed a regression in build 367 which caused the program not to start at some sites if 'freeze detection' was enabled.
COPIAFACTSFixed an issue where changes to some run-time options before starting CopiaFacts might not be automatically saved, despite a disabled 'Save' button saying that they would be. The Save button should now always be used when changes are made.
COPIAFACTS, CFINFOChanged the system info at the top of the COPIAFACTS trace to avoid a delay if a referenced mapped drive was unavailable.
COPIAEDITOnly when Editing an FS template file (.FST) in a TOSEND folder, you can now shift-click 'Write as New File' to save it as an FS file in the same folder. This simplifies the running of a SImple Fax Test.
CF9SUPPORTEnhanced the CopyFile function so that it reports and fails if the specified source pathname is the same as the destination pathname. It also fails if both pathnames refer to the same file in different ways.
CF9SUPPORTIf the destination folder does not exist, the CopyFile function will now attempt to create it before copying.

Version 9.1.0.369 2025.03.24

CFINFOThe detection of some other session types (e.g. Azure, QEMU) has been added to the ‘Session Type’ value.
COPIAINSTALL9FIxed a typo in the XCAPI SUS date for 4.0.29.
OMACHECKWhen XCAPI is installed, no default batch file is available (or needed) to restart XCAPI in addition to COPIAFACTS, so only the default OMACK.BAT is offered on a right button click.

Version 9.1.0.368 2025.02.25

DocumentationClarified the rules for using grouped variables together with regular variables of the same name.
COPIAFACTSFixed a display glitch which truncated the options list on the Options/Options tab.

Version 9.1.0.367 2025.02.20

TRCVIEWFixed an issue where a right-click in the main window could sometimes bring up the 'copy text' window with an incorrect size.
TRCVIEWAdded the ability to select a border color from the Options menu, to help identify the window when multiple trace files are opened on the desktop. The border color is matched on the corners of the taskbar icon. The program opens with no colored border, unless 'Save bookmarks' is enabled to save bookmarks with the specific file. Border color for 'save and restore' is now added to the bookmark positions in the alternate data stream of the trace file.
COPIAFACTSValidates operation with XCAPI version 4.1.x.x (as well as 4.0)
COPIAFACTSA warning will now appear in the trace if ACTIVE_WORK is enabled when the COPIA share is not on an NTFS file system.
COPIAFACTSThe pop-up warning message reporting that old unprocessed files remain in the PREPROC folder has been changed to a Notification trigger which can be enabled in EMSETUP, with the usual customizable interval between reports. The default interval is 5 minutes, so you may wish to increase this if you enable this trigger. The time at which FS files are treated as 'old' is also now configurable.
MultipleThe process which loads a CopiaFacts command file and unpacks all its contained variable definitions has been simplified to allow more efficient processing for sites where a large number of variables in FS files are used. See MAX_VAR_SPACE for more details.
CFGATEWAYImproved recovery if a customer-provided Gateway Template DLL fails while validating an incoming e-mail.
COPIAINSTALL9Improved the selection of XCAPI installer downloads to display the release dates of the XCAPI version they contain. When updating XCAPI, your software update service (SUS) must extend past this release date, in order to update to this version. For new installs, your initial allowed update period must extend past this release date in order to update to a new XCAPI version. The same release date is also displayed on the initial screen of the installer.
COPIAINSTALL9Fixed a problem which could cause the omission of some build dates in the 'check for updates' list.
CF9IMAGEAdded support for the latest PDFIUM release.
CF9IMAGEAdded support for features in Libre Office version 25.2.
CF9IMAGEAdded a new PDFLIBRE variable to support the conversion of some (rare) "problem" PDF documents by using LibreOffice for 'at run time' conversions.
CF9IMAGEEnhanced the tracing of the principal DLL functions to show which channel number in COPIAFACTS is calling the function, when called from this process.
CF9IMAGEFixed a regression in version 8.3 which could cause keywords in IMAGE_OPTIONS variables not to override option settings involving image option sets.
CF9IMAGECeased to automatically select the ORIG IMAGE_OPTIONS keyword for 'at send time' PDF conversions to TIF (needed because the default PDFIUM renderer is not thread-safe). Instead COPIAFACTS limits 'at send time' PDF conversions to one channel at a time (as has always been the case with conversions performed in Document Converter).
CF9JOBADMBuilt with the IANA 2025a Timezone database.
COPIAFACTSThe XCAPI interface has been modified to support an XCAPI version 4.1 interface. See the XCAPI topic for information about the 4.1 upgrade.

Version 9.1.0.363 2024.09.24

CF9IMAGEAdded support for LibreOffice 24.8
FFVIEWERFixed a regression in version 9.1.0.357 which caused some valid TIF files to be treated as not faxable and 'converted' unnecessarily.
CFUTIL,CFUTILITYFixed a version 8 regression in GCSINGLE which could cause a failure to secure a PDF with a password, or to add a signature to a PDF.

Version 9.1.0.361 2024.08.18

COPIAFACTSImproved the shutdown sequence to avoid very occasional exceptions while closing the .STATS files which provide data for CALLMON.
COPIAFACTSImproved the management of Windows sockets for systems using Copia VoIP Ports.
FFEXTERNImproved the reporting of 'inactive' and 'suspended' modes to pause processing, which now match the action names in CFCP.

Version 9.1.0.360 2024.08.05

CF9IMAGEAdded support for the latest PDFIUM release.
CFHELPVIEWUpgraded to version 5 of this help viewer; we also now install Webview2Loader.DLL which this version now uses to load Webview2 if available on your machine, to improve the performance of the CopiaFacts context-sensitive help.
FFEXTERNFixed a problem which could display unnecessary warning pop-ups if a very large number of variable definitions appeared in the FS file being processed.
TRCVIEW64The handling of trace files larger than 1GB has been enhanced in the 64-bit version of this program.

Version 9.1.0.359 2024.07.25

CFINFOAdded a report of the 'bitness' (32-bit or 64-bit) of the installed version of Microsoft Office [32-bit Office is required when used for document conversion].

Version 9.1.0.358 2024.07.10

COPIAFACTSFixed an issue where a forced shutdown could occasionally fail to complete.
COPIAFACTSAdded options to control the handling of some rare errors on placing a call on a Copia VoIP port channel.
TRCVIEWFixed an issue where the items selected on the Applications menu in an 'FT' trace were not retained on a reload of the trace file.

Version 9.1.0.357 2024.06.19

COPIAFACTSFixed a rare problem where an exception which caused an engine service shutdown could result in continuous warning messages being written to a trace file after CFESERVICE had detected the shutdown and restarted the engine.
COPIAFACTSAdded a feature which allows a right-click on any folder name on the 'FS Counts' tab to open the folder in Windows Explorer. You should be aware that if you open a folder shown as containing many thousands of files on a remote network share, this may take a while to load; but COPIAFACTS will continue processing while you wait, and Explorer can be closed if it takes too long.
FFVIEWERWhen loading a non-faxable TIF file, the program now attempts to convert the file to faxable (monochrome) TIF files and allows the Image Options editor to be used to change the conversion settings and reconvert the file. This feature is only enabled when such files are selected in FFEXTERN for automatic conversion. In earlier releases, non-faxable TIF files were reported as such by FFVIEWER and could not be loaded.
FFVIEWER, CVSINGLEAdded a feature to allow the Image Options Editor to save the selected image options in an alternate data stream of the original document file. For standard documents which you fax regularly, this allows the same settings to be used each time. This feature is enabled by specifying an EMBED_IMAGE_OPTIONS variable in FAXFACTS.CFG.
COPIAHTMLAdded a WYSIWYG HTML editor to allow editing of custom notification e-mails, such as for received faxes or for outbound e-mail result reports; or for creating custom HTML fax cover sheets.

Version 9.1.0.356 2024.05.08

The "Version 9" release build includes the following fixes and changes (and see also the Release Notes):

CF9IMAGEAdded support for LibreOffice version 7.6 and 24.2 (the latter is a new Libre version-numbering style).
COPIAINSTALL9No longer attempts to configure settings for CHM help files, and no longer checks for older Internet Explorer versions.
COPIAINSTALL9Now offers to download On-Demand-Assist.exe for Remote Support. This can also be done from COPIACLIENTINSTALL9.
CopiaServerInstall,,..,Improved the status display to show each component  installer as it runs at the end of the installation.
CF9EMAILDocumentation has been added covering the use of e-mail address groups for sender addresses, as specified in RFC6854.
CF9JOBADMUpdated the lists of telephone Area Codes and Country Codes used for 'timed delivery by destination location'.
CF9JOBADMBuilt with the IANA 2024a Timezone database.
CF9SUPPORTEnhanced the CreateThumbNail application support function in order to allow simplification of the scripts that use it.
CF9SUPPORTAdded a function to change the file extension of a passed file or path name.
CFTESTCorrected the syntax examples for Application Support Functions which take no parameters.
CFCPNow reflects any overridden $display_box legends on COPIAFACTS Status tab.
COPIAFACTSAdded a new feature to $display_box to handle extra counters.
COPIAFACTSImproved the checking for the presence of the correct engine DLLs.
COPIAFACTSAdded new operator keywords $sw and $ew to the $if command, to test whether a value starts with or ends with a specified substring.
COPIAFACTSFixed an issue where $if treated integer values with leading zeros as needing alphanumeric comparison.
COPIAFACTSFixed a problem where left-shift/right-click on a channel in the top row of the channels box would fail to initiate killing the call.
COPIAFACTSFixed an issue where an empty default 00000000.MBX file would be created when a Accept Fax operation found that this file was not present. This caused subsequent Accept operations to fail also. This can be resolved by manually creating the file.
COPIAFACTSThe program will now shut down immediately on detecting any BladeWare failure which requires a reboot to recover from. Previously there were a few such circumstances which only resulted in the OMA file ceasing to be written, allowing COPIAFACTS to continue running if OMACHECK was not used. OMACHECK is recommended at all BladeWare sites to initiate a reboot.
COPIAFACTSRemoved an unnecessary load of CF9MSMQ.DLL (and a potential warning message) if the Windows MSMQ feature is not installed.
COPIAFACTSFixed a problem which could cause a fax to be transmitted on an XCAPI port, with a lower level of encoding than specified, resulting in a larger file.
COPIAFACTSReplaced the variable XCAPI_RECEIVE_FILE_MMR with a new variable XCAPI_RECEIVE_FILE_CMP to override the encoding format in which received faxes are saved.
COPIAFACTSReplaced the variables XCAPI_DISABLE_MR and XCAPI_DISABLE_MMR with a new variable XCAPI_SEND_FILE_CMP to override the compression type with which received faxes are sent. The default is to use the compression specified in the TIFF header, normally MMR.
COPIAFACTS, FFEXTERNEnhanced the handling and reporting of tracing and option settings when using the application(s) in Service mode. This fixed some issues where settings made in management mode were not passed to the service.
FFEXTERNImproved the handling of PDF options in the Conversion Options dialog, and added a warning if 'at run time' conversion is selected for all PDFs (which is not recommended).
FFEXTERNEnhanced the dialogs for process configuration to allow the mouse wheel to be used to increment or decrement integer values, in addition to the up/down arrows beside the field. This now matches the UI in all other CopiaFacts programs.
FFEXTERNFixed a problem where an endlessly repeated error pop-up can occur on loading an FS file containing a corrupted or maliciously damaged attachment filename from an incoming Gateway email. The pre-process will now fail with outcome code 86.
CFGATEWAYImproved the retry handling when the message scanner attempted to open an incoming e-mail message while it was still being saved.
CFHWLAdded a warning when you double-click a .CopiaKey file in which the license end date is earlier than the end of the current license. This reduces the chance of an older file saved on the desktop (which will have an "HWL" icon) being accidentally installed.
CFINFOImproved the information displayed about the monitor manufacturer. model name, and physical size.
CFINFOUpdated the Adobe Acrobat detection to recognize recent releases.
CFINFOEnhanced the detection of running in a HyperV virtual machine.
CFINFOAdded the detection of running in a Microsoft Azure virtual machine.
CFINFOAdded a display of the programs which will be started a boot time if specified in STARTCOPIA.
CFINFORemoved the environment variable used to suppress or reduce the collection of system information for the start of a TR trace file session. Information collection now takes only a couple of seconds.
CFTESTThe tests for Application Support Functions now show the defined date and time format in the syntax examples for functions which take these parameters, instead of the default formats.
COPIAEDITFixed a problem where authentication was requested even when a command using a SECRETx variable was commented-out.
COPIAEDITEnhanced the context-sensitive help links for infobox type commands so that double-clicking a $type command shows the sub-topic for the infobox type, if present, (for example $type FS) not the main help topic for all type commands.
COPIAEDITAdded an F11 key operation to view or save a formatted version of an HTML file. This may be useful if the HTML you are viewing is particularly complex, to more clearly see its structure.
COPIAEDITAdded a feature to allow column block selection using Alt--Drag or Alt-Shift-Arrow. Because this is incompatible with word-wrap, it must first be enabled in the Options menu, which will uncheck and disable the word-wrap option.
COPIAEDITAdded a feature where using Control-Click on an item in the File menu 'most recently used' list will open the file in a new instance of COPIAEDIT.
EMSETUPImproved the comments, field labels and field hints which describe the mail server settings.
TRCVIEWA new keyboard option (control-R) toggles a temporary filter to show only the "Result:" lines in a trace file. Any existing filtering is disabled, then restored when you press control-R the second time.
TRCVIEWA horizontal scroll bar has been added to allow long displayed lines to be viewed more easily. In addition to dragging with the mouse, you can also use the mouse wheel when the mouse cursor is on the scroll bar. There is a menu item in the Options menu to hide this scroll bar.
TRCVIEWFixed a problem where a trace file too big to process could be reported as 'file not found'.
FFVIEWERFixed a regression which resulted in the font color selected for a PDF annotation not being saved to the GPT file or reloaded from a GPT file.
FFVIEWERFixed a problem in the Image Options Editor where the "fax encoding" item displayed MR or MH when unchecked, instead of the default value of MMR.
JOBDDATA, JOBXDATAFixed the incorrect syntax shown for the field variable names CALL_x and CONN_x.
STARTCOPIAFixed an issue in some earlier releases where unchecking the OMACHECK checkbox could leave its 'run as administrator' checkbox checked. As a result STARTCOPIA could run at boot time, even if there was nothing for it to start,
DocumentationThe convention of using green for obsolete feature descriptions has occasionally given users the impression that the feature was good for use. It has been changed to light green instead.
DocumentationUpdated Appendix F (standard directory descriptions).
DocumentationMade some small improvements to the readability and appearance of the web help and the context-sensitive help.
DocumentationClarified that a re-boot is always required when COPIAFACTS has shut down on detecting a serious BladeWare failure.
DocumentationClarified the differences between Accept and Receive for inbound faxes.
DocumentationAdded documentation for how to cease using service mode for the engine and document converter and revert to desktop operations.
(Multiple)Signed using Sectigo code-signing certificate expiring 2026.01.01 23:59:59.
